2022
THE IDEA
Harehill was created from one ‘simple’ idea. To design quality, robust and practical British country clothing. Whilst we initially launched with our Ridgegate Trousers, behind the scenes, from day one we have been designing, testing and perfecting the Ridgegate Waterproof Jacket.
2022 began with brainstorming features and sketching out our vision of what we wanted to create.
January 2023
THE TEXTILES
We sought to find quality performance textiles that would be robust in tough conditions. Sourcing high filament oxford nylon and most importantly a waterproof and breathable membrane that actually works (just like our Ridgegate Waterproof trousers). This has a test result of 20,000 hydrostatic head.
September 2023
SAMPLE ONE
Our first sample arrived just in time for winter. Immediately we knew we could improve it but first we sent it out with gamekeeper Ben who put it to the test whilst running shoots and deerstalking in Scotland. Whilst the jackets materials and
construction withstood the tests, the features needed improving.
More movement. More comfort. More technical.
November 2024
ALMOST THERE...
By November 2024 we went back and forth with multiple samples, chopping and changing features that perform well and those that don’t such as designing an action back for extra movement, creating a double entry game pocket (ideal for you beating flag). But we also wanted to make it feel that little extra more premium. We sourced a high quality suede from Clarino which we added to the collar. From there we sent Ben out with the penultimate jacket for the winter.
JANUARY 2025
STRONGER
The bellows pockets we’re lacking strength. We wanted them to comfortably hold a box of cartridges without looking flimsy.
APRIL 2025
THE FINAL TESTS
After another season out with gamekeeper Ben (who really put it through harsh environments) we had only a few tweaks to make before running production of the jacket. Oh, and obviously we had to make sure it actually is waterproof.
